Holtz hall will present honor to Team Mojo Foundation

EAST LIVERPOOL – For the first time, in 2016 the Lou Holtz/Upper Ohio Valley Hall of fame will present the Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame MVP Award, designed to recognize a person or organization for outstanding volunteer work to benefit the local community.

The Team Mojo Foundation has been chosen as the first recipient of this new award. Team Mojo -- a tax-exempt, non-profit organization -- was founded by Bill Crawford, who serves as executive director. The organization’s mission is “to create opportunities for young people in need by way of support, guidance and financial assistance.” It is funded by donations from individuals, businesses, organizations, grants from philanthropic foundations, and its own fundraising efforts.

“The type of awards we present annually has increased since the first ceremony in 1998 when a class of inductees was presented,” explained Holtz Hall of Fame director Robin Webster. “As we have recognized other categories of individuals and groups who deserve to be commended for their contributions, we have added the Distinguished American award, Lifetime Achievement award, the Family Heritage award and the `Do Right’ award.”

“Realizing how many good-hearted, dedicated people and groups contribute so much to make our Upper Ohio Valley communities a better place to live, we wanted to offer some measure of recognition to those ‘most valuable players’ for their efforts,” she continued.

The MVP award will be presented at the Hall of Fame’s annual induction and recognition banquet on Monday, June 13, 2016, at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville.

Since 2010, Team Mojo Foundation has helped more than 3,000 local young people, providing in excess of $150,000 in financial assistance for events, activities and other needs. The types of needs they address is widely varied. Some areas they have helped make a difference include sports, scouting, tutoring, dance lessons, books, uniforms, band camp, fees, field trips, prom, graduation, extracurricular activities, music lessons, clubs, camps and more.

Board members in addition to Crawford include President Jeremy Williams, 1st Vice President John Stoakes, 2nd Vice President Maria Boyd, Treasurer David Bickerton, Secretary Belinda Dunlap, Pete Arner, Doug Comm, Anthony Bernardi, Maurice Brown, Anne Eisenhart, Sarah Lowe, John Mercer, Robert Nizer Jr., Jim Olmstead, the Rev.
