Dreaming Of Three - MVP

The Lou Holtz/Upper Ohio Valley MVP Award was designed to recognize a person or organization for outstanding volunteer work to benefit the local community.

This year’s recipient is an organization called Dreaming of Three, a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to charitable fundraising through a passion of horses and rodeo.

The group raises funds for American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and several animal rescue groups. The group also helps create memories for children fighting cancer or heart disease by taking them and their family to rodeos through an effort called Rodeo Kids Program.

Dreaming of Three was founded 2012 by Jackie Harris, who decided to donate her own barrel racing winnings to the three charities -- cancer, heart disease and animal rescue – following the death of her step-father to cancer and her father to heart disease. As it has grown, the organization also helps equestrians come together as a team to offer assistance in the United States during times of hardship created by floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, droughts and other natural disasters.

In addition to Jackie, who serves as president, DO3’s board consists of Sean Harris, vice president Cindy Eastley, treasurer; Melissa McCorkle, secretary; Julie Hoppel and Melissa Gaso.
