Larry Kehres, born Sept. 7, 1949, is a college athletics administrator and former football player and coach. He is athletic director at the University of Mount Union, formerly known as Mount Union College, in Alliance, Ohio.

Kehres was the head football coach at Mount Union for 27 seasons, from 1986 through the 2012 season. In May 2013, Kehres retired with a record of 332–24–3 at Mount Union, and a winning percentage of .929, the highest in college football history.

Kehres won more national titles (11: 1993, 1996–1998, 2000–2002, 2005–2006, 2008, 2012), more conference titles (23), and had the most unbeaten seasons (21) than any other coach in college football history. Kehres will be succeeded as head football coach by his 37-year-old son, Vince.

A native of Diamond, Ohio, Kehres played quarterback for Portage County’s Southeast High School, which shared the 1966 Portage County League championship with Windham High School. From 1967 to 1970, he attended Mount Union College, where he played quarterback and in his final year set the school record with a 95-yard touchdown pass against Ohio Northern.

In 1971-72 he was a graduate assistant at Bowling Green State University studying for a master’s degree in health and physical education.

He served as head football coach at Johnstown-Monroe High School in 1973, and in 1974 he returned to Mount Union as assistant football coach, serving under Ken Wable for 11 years. Kehres also started and coached the Mount Union swim program from 1974 to 1986.

In 1985 he became athletic director at Mount Union and the following year took over as head football coach. His teams have won 11 NCAA Division III National Football Championships and hold several NCAA records.

He was named the first vice president of the American Football Coaches Association in 2009 and was elected president in 2010.
